Getting to know your Ghostbusters! Part Twenty One: Julia Phipps

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

juliaHappy Holidays everyone! As I write this, we’re at the halfway point between Christmas and New Years. I hope some of you got some cool Ghostbusters goodies from Santa!

As we debate on what our next charity should be, allow me to break up the quiet around here with our Q&A with recent addition Julia Phipps!

PGB: Julia, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do besides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Julia: I am a 24 year old college student. I attend a local community college where I’m majoring in Business Administration. I’m scheduled to graduate with an associate’s degree this spring. Then, I’ll work on a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting. I’m pretty involved on campus and I’m also employed by the school. I play a lot of video games in my free time and I collect comics. I love ice hockey!!! Go Flyers! I played for about 6 years (even played on my high school’s boy’s team) but can’t seem to find the time or money for it now. (more…)

Getting to know your Ghostbusters! Part Twenty: Dan Ritchie

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

danWelcome back everyone! Sorry this is a few days late, but we’ve been busy the past weekend. While many Ghostbuster franchises slow down after Halloween, we’ve been busy hitting the cold and windy streets of the City Of Brotherly Love. Why? Raising money for the Salvation Army’s Stockings For Kids of course!

In the end we raised and donated $704.00 for the worthy cause. That brings us to the next member to be profiled. Danny Ritchie’s been a pretty hardcore recent addition, making almost every gathering we’ve had since his joining. He made a very strong showing for this most recent cause and now I’m proud to get to ask him some questions!

PGB: Dan, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do besides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Dan: Where to start? I’m Dan Ritchie. I’m 23 years old and have lived in Philly all my life. I’m a cartoonist and i attend the Art Institute of Philadelphia. I want to be a professional cartoonist and make comic books. My dream is to have my own Ghostbusters comic book, but for now I work at Best Buy and love it. I just need to focus on finishing school. Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

dantWelcome again to the next epic chapter in the Getting To Know Your Ghostbusters series! This time we talk to one of our members with the longest commute. Good thing he has an Ectomobile to help him get from Tamaqua to Philly! Without further ado, Dan Tyson!

PGB: Dan, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you dobesides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Dan: Well, I’m Daniel. I’m 26 years old. Born and raised in Andreas. I work at Allen Organ company as a pick and place machine operator in the surface mount department. Basically if you’ve ever looked at the board in your computer or cell phone for example and saw the tiny parts mounted on it, that’s what I work with. When I’m not working I help as an assistant scoutmaster with my dad at our local troop where I received my eagle scout. We do different fundraising and community service work during the year kind of like the PGBs. If I’m not doing any of that I can usually be found in front of the computer playing games. (more…)

lamanchass-018Hey there! Another weekend, another new installment of Getting To Know Your Ghostbusters! This week we take a moment to talk to one of our recent additions, Ally Scanlon.

PGB: Ally, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do besides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Ally: Hi! I’m Ally Scanlon. I am a full time nanny by day and a ghostbuster by night. I love art and music and most of all hanging out with people. I love to play pool in my free time and I hate to admit it but I’m addicted to facebook. Lol.

PGB: How long have you been with the group and what made you decide to join?

Ally: I’ve been in the group a little over a month. My good friend AJ joined earlier this year which gave me the idea. I love helping people and this is the most fun and nerdy way I can think of doing so!

PGB: When and why did you begin building your GB uniform and gear?

Ally: I started my uniform a few days after I ’signed up’ I guess you could say (and by started I mean I ordered it. Lol. The Dickies company isn’t as snappy as one would like.) So we have been living together along with her 12 year old daughter. I work as an engineer at a sheet metal factory. UGH! I currently work at CVS as a shift supervisor. My other hobbies besides busting ghosts would be reading really old literature (Mostly Holmes stories), and delving in to forensics as I plan on pursuing a career as a Forensic Anthropologist.

PGB: How long have you been with the group and what made you decide to join?

Anthony: I’ve been with the group since about January of this year. I used to work with the Great and Mighty Paul, and he introduced me to this whole lifestyle. (more…)

Getting to know your Ghostbusters! Part Ten: Rosemary Ward

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

roseWelcome back friends, fans, and family, to this our tenth edition of Getting to know your Ghostbusters. This weeks edition is a bit late, but we’ve had so many events the past week and a half that things have been hectic. Fear not…as part 11 is already done and ready to be uploaded this weekend!

This time out we spotlight on our other girl Ghostbuster: Rosemary Ward!

PGB: Rose, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do besides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Rose: Besides spending with my Tony and cuddling our two black kitties..I spend a lot of time costuming, collecting toys, going to conventions, reading comics..etc. As you can tell I’m a real nerd girl, but I enjoy it. Of late I’ve also been designing and working on a ‘Retro Fan Site’ That will be mostly geared towards the eighties.

PGB: How long have you been with the group and what made you decide to join?

Rose: I’d say about a year. Tony told me about it and asked if I’d mind joining in. I’ve always enjoyed Ghostbusters, even had a Ghostbusters scrap book as a teen along with some of the Real Ghostbusters toys back in the day. So I thought it was a great idea :)

PGB: When and why did you begin building your GB uniform and gear?

Rose: I had the Jumpsuit with patches first, that was the easy part and I got all of that for my first outing. For the longest time my proton pack was just an old piece Tony put together from a vacuum cleaner. I use to joke about it and say “It use to suck dirt and now it sucks ghosts!” (more…)

tonypaulcourierbThis week, Philly GB Leader and founder Nate Paro steps in to ask the questions of Paul Poole!

Nate: Welcome once again to installment number nine of  “Getting To Know Your Ghostbusters.”  This week we sit down with our esteemed guest Mr. Paul Poole.  Paul, welcome to “getting to know your Ghostbusters.  So, you too have a theory about the end of the world?

Sorry about that.  Just a little Ghostbusters 2 humor.  Tell us a bit about yourself Paul.  Who are you? Are you a god? What do you do besides tearing up the streets with the PGB and do you have any other hobbies?

Paul: Hello! I’m 33 and I work in a grocery store. I’m in charge of specialty cheeses. So although I’ve heard this joke a thousand times already, it IS true…I cut the cheese for a living. I’m married to my beautiful wife and fellow Philly Ghostbuster Dawn.
As for other hobbies? Well before the Ghostbustin’ thing became sorta full time, I worked on making and collecting other superhero and movie related props, as well as the occasional collecting of toys, especially my massive collection of Minimates. (more…)
