After raising a total of $1,589.00, Nate Paro, Paul D. Poole, Dawn Poole, Michael Richards, and Dan Ritchie represented the Philly Ghostbusters at the Great Strides For Cystic Fibrosis walk on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Philadelphia Zoo and had a great time!

Also a shout out to PGB members Julia Phipps, Adam Gamler, Ally Scanlon, Dana Colosimo, Dan Webb, Matt Burkit, Joe Hennessey, Anthony Belfatto, and Ed Hartman who all helped raise money for this great cause!

Who Ya Gonna Call?  Not Bill Murray

The Philadelphia Ghostbusters met up with a reporter from Fourteenth Street Magazine one night while raising money on South Street.  The group was interviewed by Lauren Macaluso to be featured in the magazine.

Autism Speaks released a video recap of the 2010 Walk in Philadelphia on October 2, 2010.  The Philadelphia Ghostbusters were part of that event after raising almost $3,000 for the cause.  You can see our group along with some Steel City Ghostbusters in the video below at the 0:28 and 1:31 points.

Hey there friends, fans, and family! It’s been a while, but we’re settling into 2011. As things warm up, we’ll be heading out more and some new rookies and recruits will get the spotlight soon. This time though, we’re in for something different. A new…old member!

Dana Colosimo’s been around the team for over a year now. In fact her first time out with the Ghostbusters, she got to meet Ernie Hudson. Not too shabby! Always one to hold the donation jug, take the pictures, and spread the word, Dana’s been a friend to the PGB for a while. It’s been a long time coming, but this past week, Dana finally took the plunge and is now a full fledged member of the team, complete with her new uniform! Read on!

In 2010 the PGB welcomed 15 new members and participated in 37 events including fundraising drives, conventions, and hosting a Halloween party.  We’ve met Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter.  We also partnered with the Steel City Ghostbusters and the New Jersey Ghostbusters.

The PGB raised money for 4 charities:  Walk MS, Autism Speaks, LaMancha Animal Shelter, and Stockings For Kids.  The PGB raised $4,305.55 directly from fundraising events and, with help from supporters, donated a total of $5,944.91 total to the four separate charities.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the group, the hundreds of people we’ve met on the street, and everyone who donated with us and online!  Let’s make 2011 even better!

The Philadelphia Ghostbusters (PGB) were established in June 2009.

Happy Holidays everyone! As I write this, we’re at the halfway point between Christmas and New Years. I hope some of you got some cool Ghostbusters goodies from Santa!

As we debate on what our next charity should be, allow me to break up the quiet around here with our Q&A with recent addition Julia Phipps!

PGB: Julia, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do besides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Julia: I am a 24 year old college student. I attend a local community college where I’m majoring in Business Administration. I’m scheduled to graduate with an associate’s degree this spring. Then, I’ll work on a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting. I’m pretty involved on campus and I’m also employed by the school. I play a lot of video games in my free time and I collect comics. I love ice hockey!!! Go Flyers! I played for about 6 years (even played on my high school’s boy’s team) but can’t seem to find the time or money for it now. (more…)

Welcome back everyone! Sorry this is a few days late, but we’ve been busy the past weekend. While many Ghostbuster franchises slow down after Halloween, we’ve been busy hitting the cold and windy streets of the City Of Brotherly Love. Why? Raising money for the Salvation Army’s Stockings For Kids of course!

In the end we raised and donated $704.00 for the worthy cause. That brings us to the next member to be profiled. Danny Ritchie’s been a pretty hardcore recent addition, making almost every gathering we’ve had since his joining. He made a very strong showing for this most recent cause and now I’m proud to get to ask him some questions!

PGB: Dan, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do besides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Dan: Where to start? I’m Dan Ritchie. I’m 23 years old and have lived in Philly all my life. I’m a cartoonist and i attend the Art Institute of Philadelphia. I want to be a professional cartoonist and make comic books. My dream is to have my own Ghostbusters comic book, but for now I work at Best Buy and love it. I just need to focus on finishing school. Yes that’s right. It’s the weekend, so it must be time for another “Getting To Know Your Ghostbusters“. This time we switch it up a bit with our only member who doesn’t actually dress in a uniform! That’s right it’s time to have a word or two with our “Janine Melnitz”, Dana Michael!

PGB: So Dana, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do besides wearing a red wig and spending time standing out in a field of Khaki? Any other hobbies or interests?

Dana: I like to eat chinese food alot. I was just doing that before I answered this Q and A. Apple, the owner of my favorite chinese restaurant in Philadelphia (”South Garden”) always gives me extra food. God bless that woman. Granted there are coupons in the menu for such a hook up, but I consider it a friendly gesture. (more…)

Welcome again to the next epic chapter in the Getting To Know Your Ghostbusters series! This time we talk to one of our members with the longest commute. Good thing he has an Ectomobile to help him get from Tamaqua to Philly! Without further ado, Dan Tyson!

PGB: Dan, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you dobesides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Dan: Well, I’m Daniel. I’m 26 years old. Born and raised in Andreas. I work at Allen Organ company as a pick and place machine operator in the surface mount department. Basically if you’ve ever looked at the board in your computer or cell phone for example and saw the tiny parts mounted on it, that’s what I work with. When I’m not working I help as an assistant scoutmaster with my dad at our local troop where I received my eagle scout. We do different fundraising and community service work during the year kind of like the PGBs. If I’m not doing any of that I can usually be found in front of the computer playing games. (more…)
