The Philadelphia Ghostbusters met up with a reporter from Fourteenth Street Magazine one night while raising money on South Street.  The group was interviewed by Lauren Macaluso to be featured in the magazine.

Ghostbusters United is a website that focuses on uniting all of the various Ghostbuster “franchises” around the world, and helps newcomers find on in their area.

“The Franchise Newsletter is a quarterly project put together by Chris Sinquefield of the Northeast Texas Ghostbusters. With a revolving roster of writers and regular features covering major events coming in the world of GB franchising as well as a spotlight on the franchises themselves, the newsletter project is automatically sent out to any team registered with Ghostbusters United.”

Philly’s own Ghostbusters were presented with a plaque for our efforts and the $2,800.00 we raised for Autism Speaks.

Team Captain for this charity, Paul Poole, and Team Founder Nate Paro were on hand for the event. They received the award, got a tour of the stadium, posed for pictures and palled around with the Phanatic!

We look forward to working with Autism Speaks again in the future!

Dana Colosimo’s been around the team for over a year now. In fact her first time out with the Ghostbusters, she got to meet Ernie Hudson. Not too shabby! Always one to hold the donation jug, take the pictures, and spread the word, Dana’s been a friend to the PGB for a while. It’s been a long time coming, but this past week, Dana finally took the plunge and is now a full fledged member of the team, complete with her new uniform! Read on!

PGB: Dana, tell us a little about yourself. Who are you? What do you do besides Ghostbusting? Any other hobbies or interests?

Dana: I’m currently a senior at Penn State University, I’ll graduate in May. I work in the food industry, but I don’t know if it’s what I want to do forever. I have a passion for advocating for human rights, so I’d like to do something with that. As far as hobbies and interests, I did Irish Step Dancing for 5 years, and I miss it terribly. I just recently began to get back into photography, and I love to write and collect Buffy the Vampire Slayer stuff.

PGB: So you’ve been going out with us in street clothes for a year now and have finally suited up to make it official. What made you decide to join?

Dana: Well, I drive my boyfriend Anthony to and from the events, and I got to know the other members. Like I said above, I love advocating for human rights, and participating in charity events goes right along with it. I love the charity work the group does, and I love that we help people, and since I’m always hanging around I figured I’d join and help out other people as well.

PGB: So which was your favorite event so far? And Why?

Dana: Personally, I love the fundraising in Old City and South Street. I just love going out and seeing people’s reactions and seeing how helpful people can be. It gives me hope that the whole world doesn’t suck as much as it feels sometimes.

PGB: How about one or two of your favorite interactions with “The Straights” (For those not familiar with this expression, “Straights” was how Bill Murray as Venkman referred to the non-busters or normal citizens in Ghostbusters 2)

Dana: I’m sure I’ll repeat an answer to this question, but it always cracks me up when people ask “can you fly with those things?”….because it’s totally a jet pack right? I also love when we’re asked “Where’s Ernie?”….it’s not like we don’t want an Ernie…we just can’t find one!

PGB: So who’s your favorite Ghostbuster and why?

Dana: Well honestly, I’ve only seen half of it, but I really like Egon. He’s just that awkward kind of funny, and I love it.

PGB: How long do you see yourself doing this?

Dana: Well, Anthony leaves for school in August, so I hope I don’t drift from the group after that. I hope to keep involved with it and I hope he’ll stay involved with it when he’s home for breaks. I don’t want to leave the group anytime soon because I feel like we’re always going to keep doing great things, and I always want to be a part of helping those who need it.

PGB: Well thanks Dana! It’s great to finally have you all suited up and official!
